Joao's Campervan

Joao is a very nice guy, trying to make your stay as good as possible. He always answers very quickly. He is also very convienent for the pick-up appointement.

The bus unique and special, so be aware that it's not a regular car, but it was a pleasure to drive with it. The bus was clean and as described. Thanks Joao.

The whole experience was great. Thank you Joao for your availability before the arrival. Your help was precious to prepare my trip. Then driving and living in the van was really nice. The extra blanket was much apreciated as nights were very cold. Batteries are really usefull for charging a phone or else. The fridge, stove and sink are handy as well. The bottom bed was good just for myself as a bit narrow. Maybe add a bigger pot for cooking. I really recommend Joao's van for a anyone who wish to discover Portugal in a good size van, as it is not too big to be easily parked. Muita obrigada !!

We had a great time, but there was a few hiccups. 

• We appreciated: 

- The layout and set up of the living place. It was very handy, spacious and well put. Cooking was really easy. The fridge works very well.

- The comfort of the mattress. We had great night sleeps. 

- The top gallery was one of the reasons we picked this model, and although we couldn’t sleep in it, we used it as an extra storage space, and it offered us the chance to sometimes stand up (if you place the trap door vertically)

- Lots of battery plug options, we always could charge our phones/laptops.

• We would have appreciated:

- It seems like the engine needed fixing. At some point I could not go faster than 30km/h on the highway whenever driving uphill (Joao said this was unusual and he would repair it).

- The van was sort of jerking when clenching the 2nd and 3rd gear. 

- The Radio/CD player was not functionning, I wish we had known that beforehand.

- We would have appreciated if the grey water tank had been completely emptied when given the keys.

Side notes: I always plan an extra sleeping bag, which came in handy this time because the blanket was a bit too small for the both of us. 

In summary: the living experience was awesome. We stayed 2 and 3 days on two different spots and never wanted to leave. We felt cosy, at home.  

But the driving experience was not pleasant because of the engine (I’m used to driving this model) and we had to modify our itinerary. 

I recommend this Van if you're not in a rush and have lots time planned for your road trip. 

Joao was helpful and always replied quickly to our messages, even offered to drive us back to the airport. 

O João foi impecável e a carrinha também! Está muito bem cuidada, tem tudo o que precisamos e está muito fofinha também. Sem dúvida que numa próxima viagem a voltaremos a alugar! 

Il veicolo è esteticamente carino ma non è confortevole. È alquanto datato quindi non adatto a fare troppi kilometri e non molto sicuro, soprattutto per chi come noi è alla prima esperienza con il van. Mi dispiace dirlo ma la fornitura interna e la pulizia sono state pessime. L'unica cosa positiva è stata il proprietario e il ragazzo del check in super gentili. In generale esperienza con il van super quotata.

Everything was wonderful!

But you should take into consideration, that this vihicle is old (it's classic one, huh!), so there are some problems sometimes with gears shifting (it is not easy to turn on the rear driving mode). 

But overall - we had a great vacation with this van!

Une parenthèse nature hors du temps avec ce joli van aménagé. Nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème avec et c'est , non sans nostalgie, que nous avons dû le rendre à Joāo.
