The Experience

The Snoozuki is set up as a complete, local adventure package — not just a vehicle, but an easy and unique way to explore a very specific part of rural Asturias.

You’ll be based in the Quirós / Teverga area, on the edge of the Peña Ubiña Natural Park — a quieter, less-travelled part of the mountains that still feels largely undiscovered, yet within reach of Oviedo and coastal Aviles.

Rather than covering long distances, this experience is about staying local and exploring the area in more depth

We’ve mapped out a selection of gentle tracks, viewpoints, swimming spots, and places to stop — along with nearby villages, bars, and small local shops to resupply. Suggested routes and straightforward navigation guidance are provided, so you can move around with confidence without needing to plan everything in advance.

Everything sits close enough to keep things manageable and varied enough that each day feels different. There’s more than enough to explore without needing to go far.

The idea isn’t to chase destinations, but to settle into an area and experience it properly, at the pace the vehicle naturally encourages.

You’re never far from help, advice, or an easy route back if needed.

Your Base for Adventure

At the heart of the experience is the Snoozuki herself — a small, iconic 4x4 with a lot of character.

She’s around 40 years old, recently fitted with a new engine, and is in the process of a full, ongoing restoration. Everything is kept mechanically sound and carefully maintained, while remaining beautifully simple — no unnecessary complications, just a direct and engaging way to travel.

Driving it is part of the experience. It’s steady, capable and confidence-inspiring on the gentle tracks you’ll be exploring. The simplicity brings a smile very quickly.

Because of its age and character, it’s best suited to a calm, respectful approach — steady driving, no rushing, and enjoying the journey as much as the destination.

The living setup follows the same philosophy: simple, functional, and easy to use.

• Sleeping: cosy and comfortable for two (fresh bedding provided)

• Cooking: portable kitchen box (stove, basic utensils)

• Cooling: 12V cool box for food and drinks

• Water: basic bottled supply for cooking and washing

To keep things flexible and low-impact:

• Toilets are “leave no trace” style (small shovel provided)

• Washing is via rivers, or with a simple flannel and warm water

It’s not luxury — but it’s honest, functional, and surprisingly freeing.
