Ford Transit artisan camper van — Your home on wheels, ready for adventure

The van is based in Granollers, a stage town of the 2026 Tour de France. Don't miss it if you're a cycling fan!

Do you dream of waking up by the sea, in the mountains or lost in some corner of Europe without a care in the world? This Ford Transit is much more than a van: it's a characterful mini home, hand-built with natural wood and equipped with everything you need to live free and comfortable.

The interior, lined with pine wood, blends the warmth of a mountain refuge with the functionality of a real home. The living area converts into a bed for two in seconds, and during the day you have a dining area for three with a folding table. Every detail is designed to make the space flow.

I opted for a design that maximises interior space, so the shower is outside. The shower head comes out of the bed unit on the left side (when opening the rear doors). With the doors open, hang the shower curtain and place a wooden board on the ground — and that's it. For hot water, I heat 4 or 5 litres with a pot and kettle (everything works without being connected to the electricity grid), then pour that hot water into the main tank and you have a lovely warm shower.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Bed for 2, converts into a living area (2 armchairs and large table)

  • Sleeps 2, travels up to 3 (driver's cabin)

  • Portable gas stove (with windshield for outdoor use)

  • Running water (70L tank), sink with adjustable tap

  • LG compressor refrigerator

  • Microwave (use on mains power only as it draws a lot of energy)

  • 2 solar panels + 140Ah battery

  • 2000W inverter + 3 x 220V sockets

  • Exterior shower (curtain attaches to the rear doors, wooden board for your feet)

  • Fiamma F45S awning, manual

  • GPS/CarPlay screen

  • Outdoor table (2 heights) + stools

  • 12V LED lighting

  • 12V phone chargers

  • 3 drawers under the fridge and 2 large cupboards for clothes or food

  • Portable toilet — not chemical, uses plastic bags, much more practical and no need for special disposal facilities

With two solar panels and a 140Ah battery, you disconnect from the electricity grid without giving anything up. Charge your laptop, play music, run the fridge and forget about the plug. The 2000W inverter handles the rest. If you need more power, you can connect the van to the mains via the cable and socket provided.

When the sun beats down, roll out the Fiamma awning and set up the outdoor table: you have an instant terrace wherever you stop. The outdoor shower rounds off the experience so that wherever you go, you always feel at home. Important note: there is no water heater. For the shower, heat water with the pot and kettle (3 or 4 litres) and add it to the main water tank — this gives you a very pleasant warm shower.

✦ Fully equipped with everything you need to cook, sleep, stay connected and rest. All you have to do is choose the destination.
