What is the security deposit?

The security deposit covers:

  • The amount of repairs in the event of damage less than or equal to the insurance excess;
  • The amount of repairs in the event of damage excluded from insurance cover;
  • The amount in the event of missing fuel, excess mileage, cleaning not carried out (when cleaning costs are not included in the rental), late penalty, failure to comply with the rules on board the vehicle, or any other breach provided for in the clauses of the contract.

The security deposit is immobilised before the rental departure:

  • By the owner, if the security deposit is delivered by hand, it is remitted in the owner's currency using one of the payment methods indicated in the advert.
  • By Yescapa via a pre-authorisation system recorded at the time of payment.

The amount and method of retention of the security deposit are indicated in each advert.

When is the security deposit returned to you?

If there is no damage found after the exit inventory, the deposit must be returned in full if it is in the hands of the owner.

If damage is found, the owner must retain the security deposit while it is in his possession, pending investigation of the damage caused, which will have been declared using the damage declaration form accessible on your profile under the heading "My trips" then "Booking details".

For compensation in the event of minor damage, excess mileage, cleaning not carried out (when cleaning costs are not included in the rental), or missing fuel, wherever possible, you should pay in person on return.

When the security deposit is managed by Yescapa and no amicable settlement has been made, Yescapa will contact you to inform you of the steps involved.
