Croatia offers a well-developed network of campsites stretching from the Istrian peninsula to the southern Dalmatian coast. Most coastal sites provide full hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and dedicated pitches for both campervans and motorhomes. Inland options near national parks tend to be smaller and more peaceful, with basic facilities and direct access to hiking trails. Many Croatian campsites sit right on the waterfront, so you can step from your pitch onto a beach or harbour promenade.
Croatia uses a modern motorway network with toll roads on major routes such as the A1 (Zagreb–Split) and A6 (Zagreb–Rijeka). Tolls are paid at booths by cash or card, and an electronic ENC system is also available. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classed in a higher toll category, so costs are slightly higher. The general speed limit on motorways is 130 km/h for cars, but motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are limited to 90 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on open roads. Rest areas with fuel, toilets, and parking for larger vehicles appear regularly along the main corridors. Coastal roads can be narrow in places, so a campervan may be easier to manoeuvre on routes like the D8 Adriatic highway.
