What you need to know about roads and motorways in Austria
Austria requires a toll vignette for all vehicles using its motorways and expressways. You can purchase a digital vignette online or at petrol stations. Certain alpine tunnels and roads, such as the Brenner motorway and the Arlberg tunnel, carry separate tolls. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes use the GO-Box system instead. Speed limits on motorways are 130 km/h for cars, but campervans and motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are limited to 80 km/h on rural roads and 100 km/h on motorways.
