Abruzzo offers campsites spread from the Adriatic coast to the mountain parks, so you can plan overnight stops at every stage of your trip. Coastal sites typically provide full hook-ups, direct beach access, and spacious pitches for larger motorhomes. Inland, mountain campsites near the national parks tend to be smaller and quieter, with facilities including electric hook-ups, hot showers, and waste disposal for campervans. Many sites in Abruzzo stay open from Easter through to October.
Abruzzo's main motorways are the A14 (Adriatic coast) and the A24/A25 connecting Rome to Pescara and L'Aquila. Tolls apply on all three and are paid at exit barriers by card or cash — budget roughly €10–€15 for a full crossing. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classed as a higher toll category and must observe a 100 km/h limit on motorways and 80 km/h on secondary roads. The A24 and A25 include long tunnels through the Apennines, so check your vehicle height before setting off. Rest areas with motorhome service points appear regularly along the A14.
