Brussels is home to over 90 museums, including the Magritte Museum, which houses the world's largest collection of works by the Belgian surrealist René Magritte — more than 230 pieces spanning his entire career. The city's Grand-Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, is ringed by ornate guildhalls and the Gothic Town Hall with its 96-metre spire. From there, it is a short walk to the Manneken Pis fountain and the elegant glass-roofed Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, one of Europe's oldest shopping arcades. For green space, the Parc du Cinquantenaire offers wide paths, triumphal arches, and the Autoworld motor museum — ideal for a leisurely afternoon. Ghent lies just 56 km to the north-west, while the medieval centre of Leuven is only 26 km to the east, making Brussels a superb base for day trips by campervan. The city sits at the crossroads of Belgium's motorway network, so heading out in a motorhome is straightforward in every direction. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the Brussels region, which means flexible pick-up points, a personal welcome, and often a few insider tips on where to park and what to see. Whether you are planning a weekend loop through Flanders or a longer route into the Ardennes, Brussels gives you an easy, well-connected starting point for your next road trip.
Brussels is enjoyable throughout the year. Late spring brings the Zinneke Parade, a colourful biennial street procession held in May, while the Brussels Summer Festival fills stages across the city centre each August with live music. Summer months are the busiest for campervan travel, so booking your hire on Yescapa early helps you secure the best choice from local owners. Autumn and winter have their own appeal — the Christmas market on Grand-Place runs from late November into December, and campsite availability around Brussels is generally excellent outside peak season. Peer-to-peer pricing on Yescapa often makes shoulder-season trips particularly good value.
Brussels is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 100 km west from Brussels to Bruges, where canals wind past medieval buildings and the Belfry tower offers panoramic views. Stop in Ghent along the way to visit Saint Bavo's Cathedral and the Graslei waterfront. Campervan parking is available at designated areas outside Bruges' compact centre.
This short 50 km route south from Brussels takes you to the Waterloo battlefield memorial and its Lion's Mound viewpoint. Continue to Nivelles to see the impressive Collegiate Church of Saint Gertrude. Motorhome-friendly parking is easy to find in both towns, making it a relaxed weekend trip.
Drive 65 km east from Brussels through two of Brabant's finest cities. Leuven's Gothic Town Hall and the Groot Begijnhof are must-sees, while Mechelen offers the stunning St Rumbold's Cathedral tower. Both cities have well-marked campervan parking close to the historic centres.
Travel 150 km south-east from Brussels into the forested hills of the Ardennes. Visit the castle town of Bouillon and explore the caves at Han-sur-Lesse. Campsites with full hook-ups are plentiful along river valleys, and the winding roads are well suited to a motorhome at a leisurely pace.
Head 200 km north from Brussels via Antwerp, where the MAS museum and the Cathedral of Our Lady await. Then continue to the seaside towns of Knokke-Heist and De Haan on the North Sea coast. Campervan facilities are available at several coastal campsites with direct beach access.
This 310 km route south from Brussels crosses into the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, passing through Arlon and on to Luxembourg City's Casemates du Bock. Follow the Moselle Valley to Remich for vineyard walks and river views. Plan five to eight days and book campsite pitches along the Moselle in advance.

Brussels itself is a densely built capital, so most campsites are located in the surrounding Brabant countryside, typically within 20 km of the city centre. These sites cater well to both campervans and motorhomes, with serviced pitches, electrical hook-ups, shower blocks, and waste disposal points. Several are set beside woodland or lakes, offering a peaceful retreat after a day exploring Brussels. Booking ahead during summer weekends is a good idea to guarantee your preferred pitch.
Parking a motorhome or campervan in central Brussels requires some planning, as most on-street spaces have height restrictions. Park-and-ride (P+R) facilities on the outskirts offer a practical alternative — they are free or low-cost, and connect to the city centre by metro or tram. Overnight parking in public car parks is generally not permitted for campervans, so plan to return to a campsite or designated aire for the night.
