Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Community of Madrid

Community of Madrid — a region worth exploring

The Comunidad de Madrid is home to over 3,000 hectares of protected parkland within its capital alone, making it one of Europe's greenest metropolitan regions. Beyond the city, the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park stretches across the northern border, offering peaks above 2,400 metres and well-marked trails ideal for day hikes. From Madrid city centre to the historic town of Aranjuez is roughly 50 km, where the Royal Palace and its UNESCO-listed cultural landscape sit along the banks of the Tagus. Head north-west for about 55 km and you reach San Lorenzo de El Escorial, site of the imposing Royal Monastery built under Philip II. The region also features Chinchón, a charming town centred on a medieval plaza mayor, and Buitrago del Lozoya, whose well-preserved Arab walls date back to the 11th century. For campervan travellers, the Comunidad de Madrid offers a compact yet varied landscape — flat plains in the south give way to mountain passes in the north, so you can shift from urban culture to highland scenery in under an hour. Motorhome-friendly roads connect most towns, and several campsites across the region cater to larger vehicles. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the Comunidad de Madrid, choosing from a wide range of campervans and motorhomes to suit your group and your route.

Best time to visit

The Comunidad de Madrid enjoys warm, dry summers and mild springs, making May to October the prime window for a campervan trip. In May, the Fiestas de San Isidro fill the capital with open-air concerts, processions, and food markets — a brilliant time to explore by motorhome and park up near the festivities. Autumn brings the Sierra de Guadarrama into its own, with golden foliage and comfortable hiking temperatures through October. Book early for July and August, the most popular months for hire. With Yescapa's peer-to-peer model, you can often find competitive rates even in peak season, as local owners across the Comunidad de Madrid set their own prices.
