What you need to know about roads and motorways in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has no toll roads, so you can travel freely without worrying about charges. The motorway network is limited to the M1 (Belfast to Dungannon), M2 (Belfast to Antrim) and M3 in Belfast. Speed limits for vehicles over 3,500 kg are 60 mph on single carriageways and 70 mph on dual carriageways and motorways — the same as standard cars. Signage uses miles and mph throughout. Many scenic routes follow A-roads and B-roads that are well surfaced but can be narrow in rural areas, so take care with larger motorhomes on the tightest stretches. Service stations with fuel and parking suitable for campervans are well spaced along major routes.
