Southern Austria offers a fine spread of campsites, from lakeside pitches in Carinthia to quieter spots among the Styrian hills. Most sites welcome both campervans and motorhomes, providing electric hook-ups, fresh-water stations, waste disposal and modern shower blocks. Many are open from April to October, and several sit right beside swimmable lakes, giving you direct access to the water from your pitch. Whether you prefer a family-friendly park with a playground or a smaller, nature-focused site, you will find options across the region.
In Austria, motorways and expressways require a toll vignette, available as a digital version online. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must use the GO-Box system instead. The speed limit on motorways is 130 km/h for cars, but motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are limited to 80 km/h on rural roads and 100 km/h on motorways. Southern Austria's A2 (Süd Autobahn) connects Graz to Klagenfurt, while the A9 links Graz northward. Mountain passes such as the Großglockner carry separate tolls. Rest areas with motorhome service points appear regularly along major routes.
