Bremen is Germany's smallest federal state, yet it packs a remarkable amount of character into its two cities — Bremen and Bremerhaven — separated by roughly 60 km of flat, easy-to-drive terrain along the River Weser. In Bremen city, the Town Musicians statue on the Marktplatz draws visitors from across Europe, while the UNESCO-listed Town Hall and Roland statue speak to over 600 years of civic pride. Head north to Bremerhaven and you will find the German Emigration Centre, an award-winning museum tracing the journeys of seven million emigrants who left for the New World. The Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost takes you on a climate journey along the 8th degree of longitude, and the harbour promenade offers wide views across the North Sea coast. Bremen's compact size makes it ideal for campervan travel — distances are short, roads are well-maintained, and you can explore both cities comfortably in a long weekend. Beyond the urban centres, the Blockland nature reserve on Bremen's doorstep provides peaceful cycling routes and waterside spots to park up for the night. Hiring a motorhome through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across the region, giving you a genuine peer-to-peer experience and a wider choice of vehicles — from compact campervans for couples to larger family motorhomes. With no motorway tolls and flat, accessible roads throughout, Bremen is a welcoming base for wider road trips into Lower Saxony and the North Sea coast.
May to September is the prime window for a campervan trip through Bremen, when long daylight hours and mild temperatures make outdoor exploring a pleasure. The Bremer Freimarkt, one of Germany's oldest funfairs, runs each October and is well worth timing your visit around. In June, the Bremerhaven Sail festival draws tall ships from around the world every few years — check dates before you book. Summer is peak season, so hiring early through Yescapa gives you the best pick of peer-to-peer vehicles at competitive rates. Spring and autumn bring quieter roads and lower prices, perfect for a relaxed motorhome tour of the Weser region.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

Bremen offers a good selection of campsites and motorhome stopovers spread between its two cities. In Bremen city, you will find sites with full hook-ups, modern shower blocks and waste disposal facilities suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Bremerhaven provides harbour-side pitches with views across the Weser estuary. Most sites are open from April to October, with a handful offering year-round access for winter travellers exploring Bremen.
Bremen's motorways — the A1, A27 and A28 — are toll-free for all vehicles, including motorhomes and campervans. On German autobahns, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must observe a speed limit of 80 km/h, while those under 3.5 tonnes follow the standard advisory limit of 130 km/h unless otherwise posted. Rest areas with dedicated motorhome parking are well signposted along major routes. Within Bremen city, an environmental zone (Umweltzone) requires all vehicles to display a green emissions sticker, so check your vehicle's sticker before entering. Roads throughout the state are flat and well-surfaced, making driving straightforward for larger vehicles.
