Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Valencian Community

Valencian Community — a region worth exploring

The Comunidad Valenciana stretches along 518 kilometres of Spain's Mediterranean coast, making it one of Europe's longest continuous stretches of accessible shoreline for touring by road. From the historic centre of Valencia — home to the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences — south to the palm groves of Elche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the region packs remarkable variety into a compact area. The drive from Castellón de la Plana in the north to Alicante in the south covers roughly 250 km, while a detour inland from Valencia city to the mountain town of Morella is around 180 km through the rugged Maestrazgo highlands. Coastal roads wind past the salt lagoon of the Albufera Natural Park, the towering Peñón de Ifach rock at Calpe, and the long sandy beaches of Gandía. Inland, the Sierra de Espadán and the Vall de Gallinera offer quieter routes through citrus orchards and medieval villages, well suited to campervans and smaller motorhomes. Whether you fancy a week by the sea or a circuit through the mountains, the region rewards flexible, self-guided travel. Through Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners across the Comunidad Valenciana, choosing from a wide range of vehicles to match your group size and itinerary. It is a practical, personal way to explore at your own pace.

Best time to visit

The Comunidad Valenciana enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate that makes campervan travel comfortable for much of the year. Spring is ideal, with pleasant temperatures and the spectacular Las Fallas festival lighting up Valencia each March. Autumn brings the Moors and Christians festivals across towns like Alcoy in April and October, along with quieter roads and mild weather. Summer is the busiest season along the coast, so booking your Yescapa hire early is worthwhile to secure the best choice of vehicles. Winter remains mild, especially around Alicante, and offers a peaceful way to explore the Comunidad Valenciana without the crowds — a real advantage of peer-to-peer pricing on Yescapa, where rates tend to be lower outside peak months.

Spain's autopistas (motorways) in the Comunidad Valenciana include the AP-7, which runs the length of the coast and is toll-free in this region. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3,500 kg are 90 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on conventional roads. Rest areas with services appear regularly along the AP-7 and are generally well maintained.
