Brisbane's Story Bridge, completed in 1940, remains one of only three bridges worldwide that offers a guided climb to its summit. As Queensland's capital, Brisbane sits along the winding Brisbane River and offers a rewarding mix of culture, nature and urban energy. The South Bank Parklands stretch across 17 hectares of riverside gardens, pools and eateries, while the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) houses one of Australia's most impressive contemporary collections. Across the river, the Howard Smith Wharves precinct brings heritage architecture together with waterfront dining beneath the cliffs of Kangaroo Point. For wildlife encounters, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary — the world's oldest and largest koala sanctuary — is just 12 km south-west of the city centre. Beyond Brisbane itself, the Gold Coast is roughly 80 km to the south, and the Sunshine Coast sits about 100 km to the north, making both ideal day trips or extended road trip stops. The city's grid of wide streets and well-signed motorways suits motorhome travel, and several dedicated service points around the outskirts cater to larger vehicles. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa connects you with local owners across the Brisbane region, giving you a peer-to-peer option that often includes personal tips on where to park, camp and explore. It is a practical, community-driven way to set off on your Queensland adventure.
Brisbane enjoys a subtropical climate that makes it a comfortable destination year-round. The cooler dry season from May to September brings clear skies and pleasant driving conditions — ideal for a campervan trip. In September, the Brisbane Festival lights up the city with three weeks of live performance, capped by the spectacular Riverfire fireworks display. The warmer months from October to March coincide with the Eat Street Northshore night markets, perfect for evening strolls. Booking a motorhome through Yescapa during the shoulder months of April or October can offer excellent peer-to-peer value, with more vehicle availability and quieter campsites across the region.

Brisbane and its surrounds offer a solid range of camping options for both campervan and motorhome travellers. You will find everything from riverside parks with full hook-ups and hot showers to quieter bush sites on the city's outskirts. Many parks provide dump points, laundry facilities and barbecue areas. If you prefer to stay closer to Brisbane's centre, several holiday parks along the northern and southern corridors give easy motorway access while keeping you within reach of local attractions.
Brisbane City Council permits motorhome and campervan parking in most standard car parks, provided the vehicle fits within the marked bay. Overnight sleeping in vehicles is not permitted on public streets or in council car parks. For longer stays, dedicated caravan parks or rest areas outside the city are your best option. Several locations around Brisbane offer convenient access for larger vehicles visiting the city centre.
